Yōkoso, Konnichiwa & Arigatō

Welcome, Hello and Thank You for taking the time to visit our web site.  We hope you find what you are looking for on these pages.  Just click onto the menu buttons above to see who we are, what we do & when we do it.   Or, better still . . .  why not come along in person to see what WYJC has to offer you, and your friends and family this year.

Please Note: WYJC is Closed for the whole of August 2016 (No Classes in August).

WYJC Re-opens after the Summer Holidays on Tuesday 6th September 2016.

We have an excellent Team of fully qualified and experienced Coaches ready to provide you with an enjoyable and safe introduction to the Olympic Sport of Judo.  We still teach and practice the skills, techniques and values of Kodokan Judo and WYJC is affiliated to the National Governing Body for the Sport of Judo in the UK; 'The British Judo Association'

Our British Judo Association (BJA) Club No. is 4468.  This BJA Club No. is the number that is needed by our club members who wish to take out British Judo Association Individual Membership (as part of our Club), in order for them to be awarded Grades/Belts and for them to participate in Championships and other BJA events.

WYJC was founded in 1973 and our mission statement & club motto has always been 'Judo For All'.  We have been providing excellent Judo training & coaching opportunities for over Forty Years now and we look forward to the next forty years of Judo service to you and our local Community.  So!  We hope to see You soon (when you come along to 'Have a Go at Judo').

WYJC was awarded the prestigious 'Sport England Club Mark Award' in 2008 by the Chairman of the BJA Mr Densign White and we have ensured that the high quality standards needed to achieve this award have been maintained and developed further through continued personal & professional development of all of our Judo Coaches.

All of our Coaches are fully qualified with the BJA and have full certification from the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS Certificates / Police checked), as well as being qualified & experienced First Aiders.

Our Coaching Team are all professional Judo Coaches who work for their living as full-time Judo Coaches in Schools, Colleges and Leisure Centres, but, work as unpaid Volunteer Coaches at WYJC in the evenings.  Our Coaches also hold qualifications in Fitness Training and are experienced Self-Defence Instructors for Schools, Colleges & Clubs.

WYJC Coach Heather Manser BJA 1st Dan Black Belt & BJA Level Two Judo CoachCongratulations to Heather on achieving her latest sports related qualifications.  As part of this year's personal development programme Heather has now qualified as a Level Two Gym Instructor, a Studio Cycle Instructor, a Les Mills Body Combat Instructor and Les Mills Body Pump Instructor.  Well Done Heather.

Knight, Kavanagh & Page (on their last visit to wyjc) acting as Auditors for Sport England, carried out a 'Club Mark' External Verification Site Audit and following this, they sent us an excellent review letter (just as in previous years; i.e. this was our forth Club Mark External Verification visit since 2008).  You can read their comments by clicking onto the following Link (Click this Link to Read their Letter).
