Welcome to WYJC web site 2018

This web page was last updated on 6th December 2018

Yōkoso, Konnichiwa & Arigatō = Welcome, Hello & Thank You

for taking the time to visit our web site

Yet again; Congratulations to Greg on taking part in the BJA Midland Area Commemorative Open Judo Competition event held on Sunday 25th November 2018 at the University of Wolverhampton (Walsall Campus).

Greg entered the Senior Mens Event and won Bronze Medal.  Once more, Greg demonstrated his ability and determination to fight & win, against older, Senior Kyu Grades.

Well Done Greg.  Our Head Coach, Debbie who was his 'Mat-Side Coach (& Dee) cheered & encouraged Greg on during his contests.  Photo provided by Debbie.

Greg's Mom said how proud she was of her No1 Son (Greg is standing on the No.3 Podium, next to the No.1 position Gold Medal Winner).

WELL DONE GREG:

Congratulations Greg on winning Silver Medal at the Senior Mens Rod Lane Kyu Grade Open Championship held on Saturday 10th November 2018.

"I am so impressed with Greg, I saw each of his contests and in my opinion Greg WON ALL of his contests.  In his last fight (against the eventual Gold medal Winner) Greg threw his opponent several times - that should have ended the contest with a winning Ippon score (several times - not just once), however, that was not to be according to the Referee on the day.  Well Done Greg."

Keith Jones 5th Dan, Senior Coach.

WYJC was awarded the prestigious 'Sport England Club Mark Award' in 2008 and we have ensured that the high quality standards needed to achieve this award have been maintained and developed further through continued personal & professional development of all of our Judo Coaches.  Knight, Kavanagh & Page acting as Auditors for Sport England carried out a 'Club Mark' External Verification on their last visit to WYJC and sent us an excellent review letter (just as in previous years; i.e. this was our forth EV visit since 2008).  You can read their comments by clicking onto the following Link (Click this Link to Read their Letter).  Pictured below: Senior Coach Keith standing next to 'Three Times Olympian' (and who was at that time BJA Chairman) Densign White (centre) presenting the Club Mark Certificate to the WYJC Head Coach Debbie (pictured receiving the Certificate), standing in front of some of our Junior & Senior Club Members.
